Crickets are related to grasshoppers and katydids. Rounded heads, long thin antennae, and wings bent down at an angle identify crickets. These insects are usually brown, black, or yellow, and they have a pair of large, strong back legs used for jumping. Some, but not all, can produce a tell-tale chirping noise. 

Pill bugs, also commonly referred to as rollie pollies, are one of the only land-living crustaceans. When threatened or disturbed, they roll into a tight ball. Adult pill bugs have a segmented hard shell covering their dark brown or black, oval-shaped bodies, and their exterior consists of seven individual rigid plates. 

These teardrop-shaped insects have brownish or grayish-colored bodies covered in silvery scales. Their unique movements allow them to move from place to place quickly using a wriggling fish-like manner, hence their name. Silverfish have a three-pronged appendage that extends from their abdomen. 

The sowbug is the other type of land-living crustacean and is closely related to the pill bug. Their oval-shaped, dark gray bodies are rounded on the top and flat on the bottom. Their bodies are segmented, and they can roll up into a “c” shape. They also have a small tail-like appendage that extends from their rear end. 

Field mice, also called deer mice, are stout rodents with brown or tan fur and white bellies, legs, and feet; their short furred tails are bi-colored, dark on top, and light underneath. Adult field mice grow between 5 and 8 inches long. 

House mice have oval-shaped bodies covered in dusty gray, brown, or black colored fur and have lighter cream-colored bellies. They have large ears, long skinny tails covered in a light layer of velvety fur, and grow to 2 1/2  - 3 3/4 inches in length. 

Norway rats have a dense body covered in brown fur with black hairs scattered throughout. Their belly is lighter in color than the rest of their body. Norway rats have a blunt nose, small ears, and black eyes that protrude from the head. 

Voles have a small, stocky body with short legs and a short tail. Fur covers their ears, keeping them hidden from view, and their body is covered in chestnut-brown or black fur. Blunt snouts and chisel-shaped front teeth help to identify voles. 

Black widow spiders have large, round or oval-shaped abdomens. The female black widow spider’s most recognizable feature is the red hourglass-like marking located on the bottom of their abdomens. In contrast, male black widow spiders are a medium gray or olive color with cream-colored markings. The hourglass marking on the underside of the male’s abdomen is yellow or a yellowish-orange color. 

As their name states, brown recluse spiders are a light brown color. These spiders also have a darker brown, often violin-shaped marking located on the top side of their head. A unique feature of the brown recluse spider is the semi-circle arrangement of their six eyes as most other spider species have eight eyes. 

The wolf spider is a larger species of spider with a body that grows between 1/2 an inch to 2 inches in length. Their eight powerful legs allow them to chase after and hunt down their quick-moving prey. Their bodies and legs are covered in dark brown hair with paler markings or stripes. Wolf spiders have a unique eye pattern of two large eyes on the top of the head, two large eyes at the front of the head, and a row of four smaller eyes just above their mouth.
